3/25/08-The Democrats System

The Democrats seem to me to have one of the strangest systems of anybody ever, when it comes to choosing a candidate. On one hand you have the primaries. They're the perfect democracy, proportional representation and all, and then on the other hand you have the super-delegates. They are the exact opposite of democracy. They are oligarchy, where the few rule the many. Simply put, the Democrat party wants to give the people the choice to choose their candidate, but they're reserving the right to correct the people when the choose the "wrong" candidate. I can't see anyone agreeing with this system. It makes it so that, in reality, the people don't get to choose who their canidate for president is.

Of course this is a perfect example of what the Democrats stand for. They stand for big goverment, they stand for pretending to give the power to the people while really keeping it for themselves.

Now to what this may result in this year. Do not be suprised if the super delegates over rule the people this year. My prediction in the matter is that they in fact will choose Clinton over Obama even though Obama will win when it comes to elected delegates. (At http://www.midasoracle.org/2008/02/14/hillary-clinton-barack-obama/ you can see some intersting stats on who thinks Clinton can still win). As soon as the Obama supporters find out he got jipped out of a nomination they'll be pretty mad. If this all happens I think there will be a fair amount of pressure from Obama supporters for him to run as an independent. Of course if that happens you can say "see ya" to a liberal 44th president, unless of course, you count McCain as a liberal.

In conclusion the system the Democrats have set up could, in effect, destroy the party.
